Feedback
from the participants
Thank you very much for the Webinar. The
theory of multiple intelligence is not new for us. We try to use it to identify
and use many thinking strengths of our students. But being teachers of high
school and university we mostly use linguistic and interpersonal intelligences.
It was very helpful to be reminded about other intelligences that should be
used while teaching English. It is really important to choose different ways in
which the material must be presented. It was interesting to participate in the
discussion. A lot was said about students' intelligences. But I think it is
very important to determine which intelligences are strongest for teachers
themselves. If the teacher knows his strongest thinking strengths his work will
be more effective.I'm afraid not much was said about that.
I am sure it is really a great opportunity for us to participate in Webinars like that. We are looking forward to meeting at the next Webinar.
Best wishes

E-Teacher
Professional Development Workshop
E-Teacher
Scholars’ Conference
August 9-10, 2012
The E-Teacher
Professional Development Workshop is a three-week teacher leadership
program that takes place every summer at the University of Maryland, Baltimore
County (UMBC). The 25 participants of the Workshop
are selected alumni of the E-Teacher
Scholarship Program, a fully online training program for English teaching
professionals sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and developed by UMBC
and the University of Oregon. The purpose of the Workshop is to enhance participants’ understanding of TESOL
methodology and empower them as teacher leaders in their home countries. By the
end of the Workshop, all participants will have completed a professional
development (PD) plan that is uniquely suited to their local English language
teaching contexts. The goal of this PD plan is to disseminate widely the
innovative best practices of TESOL learned in their respective online E-Teacher
courses.
The
E-Teacher Scholars’ Conference on August 9-10, 2012 is the culmination of the E-Teacher Professional Development Workshop.
The conference will take place at UMBC and include presentations from all 25
participants who will share the PD plans designed during their three-week stay
at UMBC. Each presentation will be 20 minutes.

Feedback from the
Participants
We attended the Webinar The Question of Grammar in
the English Classroom
Presented by Dr. Kelli Odhuu and it was our first experience. We have never thought
before about the differences of inductive and deductive methods of teaching
grammar- some theory was very useful. It was really amusing to listen to the
song “Do you like banana, chicken?” and know the ways we can apply it to the
lesson in the classroom. Arranging adjectives in the right order we liked as a
nice part of the Webinar as well. Thanks for the organizers! This autumn
session brought us such a treat at the University thanks to the new technology
we now know about.

It turned out that the Webinar is a very useful and
nice event. First we felt rather odd, it wasn’t very easy to grasp what was the
talk about. But with the course moving on and thanks to very simple language,
clear intonation and pronunciation we started to understand more from the talk.
We like the videos and the point they were used at the Webinar. In our opinion
to be at this event was very useful as it also gives the idea how technology
could be used in the classroom. We are going to use the material suggested for
our work at schools.
